very superstitious, writing on the wall

Superstition--a great song and an interesting ideology. I'm not actually superstitious, but maybe I have a little bit of concern in regards to black cats, broken mirrors, and walking under ladders. Not so much regarding the Bloody Mary game one can play in front of a mirror.

If you ask my high school best friend Paige, she can tell you that squirrels have always been the enemy. (It's a long-running inside joke; no point in asking). So when I saw my first infamous black squirrel in D.C., I thought what the heck--these vile creatures must be tantamount to black cats!

They are bad omens, I'm telling you. There are also white squirrels. Seriously, they're like albinos or something. I'm not sure what they mean. Neither are good luck, that's for sure. It's like saying The Black Death. Capital letters are very necessary: The Black Squirrel.
