the lost art of

getting nails done. Girls, I'm not saying you have to get acrylics (like I do--I must say they look fabulous), but getting a manicure can really boost your look. I have a bad habit of biting my nails. It's been a longstanding habit, one I've had since middle school, I'd wager. If you bite your nails, acrylics will kill that habit. They're tough as diamonds, don't bother taking your teeth to them.

You will never know if the manicurist likes you. He or she has a 99% chance of being of some Asian variety. They will talk about you in another language. But just smile and tell them exactly what you want, and you should have no problems.

My experience was quite pleasant. The nice lady really took pride in her work. It really is an art form, doing nails. The lady next to me got cherry blossoms painted on her toenails. Such a cute addition. But painting those requires a delicate touch and a paint brush with like one hair the size of one's pinky finger. I mean I'm just saying, it takes effort and precision.

The most cliché moment of the day was when I saw another Asian lady, currently on a lunch break, eating an egg roll. So there was THAT.
